Ransomes Jaconsen, the Ipswich-based turf equipment manufacturer, has introduced a new batwing rotary mower, the Jacobsen R-311. This new wide area mower has all of the inherent features of the popular HR-5111, which it replaces, plus many other improvements.
The operator platform had been completely redesigned to provide a spacious and comfortable cockpit with a high-spec air suspension seat and convenient storage console with integral cup holders and 12 volt charging outlet.
The new Tier 3 compliant 2.2 litre, 45 hp Kubota diesel engine has more usable torque and improved fuel economy; in fact it is 9.5% better than the former HR-5111 and 13% better than comparable competitors' machines, giving a best-in-class 8.3 hours of operating time.
A new limited slip differential, which requires no input from the operator, and more powerful hydraulic drive motor provide superb traction resulting in unrivalled hill climbing without damaging the turf.
The cutting decks feature seven new bevelled blades in total, three in the front and two in each wing. All have individual hydraulic drive motors resulting in increased reliability and lower maintenance, unlike competitor models that use belts and pulleys. The new bevelled blades provide an even better cut in tall thick grass.
Safety is enhanced with a new standard folding ROPS for easier loading and storage and when mowing around trees with low branches. Maintenance operations are easier thanks to a larger, easy opening engine cover with gas support struts and a hinged removable seat platform. New, more convenient front and rear tie down points are provided to easily secure the mower when transporting between job sites.
Manuel Ruiz, Product Manager at Ransomes Jacobsen said, "The previous HR-5111 was a very good machine, but we have raised the bar with the new R-311. It's quieter, more fuel efficient, more comfortable for the operator, easier to maintain and built to handle the toughest conditions."
