Meltham GCHuddersfield's Meltham Golf Club has recently signed a £152,000 deal with Toro distributor Lely UK as part of a fleet replacement programme.

Located in the foothills of the Pennines, the 18-hole course has been kitted out with a fleet of brand new Toro mowers, including a Groundsmaster 4300-D, two Reelmaster 3100-Ds and two Reelmaster 6500-D mowers.

"Toro has an excellent reputation and a great range of machines," says course manager Jonathan Leach. "We wanted a fleet that would do a great job and deliver every time. Toro mowers really stood out in the demos and we definitely haven't been disappointed - the fleet is fantastic. The mowers have made a big difference to the look and presentation of the course, which we pride ourselves on keeping spotless."

But what bit of Toro kit does Jonathan swear by? Well, he says it has to be his Greensmaster 3250-D greensmower - fitted with Toro's famed Dual Precision Adjustment (DPA) cutting units - which he says is "superb". As he continues: "It's an outstanding mower and has significantly improved the quality of our greens. Our greens are quite narrow, but the Greensmaster works perfectly on them and gives a precise cut. We've got two and they were definitely worth the investment."

And, having re-signed this time, Jonathan looks set to stay with Toro for the foreseeable future. "We certainly intend to invest in more Toro equipment. It's so reliable and the results can be seen by all - course presentation is now to a much higher standard, thanks to our new fleet."
