Three clubs from the South West are to benefit from the Rugby Football Union's Rugby Football Foundation programme.

Frome RFC, Salcombe RFC and Buckingham RFC have all received awards from the RFF, which is a charitable trust funded via the RFU's Community Capital Fund.

The RFF awards interest free loans of up to £100,000 and grants of £6,000 to clubs. All clubs at level 5 and below in the English Clubs Rugby Union Championship are eligible to apply to the fund for a loan and grant. Clubs at level 4 are eligible to apply for a loan only.

At Frome RFC they have been awarded a grant of £6,000 to purchase grounds maintenance equipment and lights.

At Salcombe RFC they have been awarded a £5,000 grant to purchase the clubhouse and lease over pitches.

Finally at Buckingham RFC they have been awarded a £1,100 grant to carry out sand slitting on one of their rugby pitches.

The RFU's Head of Funding and Facilities Simon Winman said: "We are delighted to make these awards. These clubs are key to the local and regional development of rugby union and we are committed to making sure that the clubs continues to provide increased opportunities for all who wish to participate in rugby."

I know some people have a strange idea as to where the South West is. But I do think Buckingham is stretching it a little far.

Of course there's no bounce, bend your back and put some bloody effort in.
