Royal Portrush Golf Club in Northern Ireland has appointed leading sportsturf contractor MJ Abbott Limited to install a new irrigation system.
It comprises fully-automatic irrigation to the greens, tees, approaches, fairways, walkways and green surrounds to both the Dunluce and Valley Courses. The project also includes a new 125m³/hr pump station, 650m³ capacity water storage tank, upgraded pump station electric supply and five new boreholes.
Toro Irrigation equipment will be used for the installation which has been designed and will be managed by Robin Hume Associates.
Work is due to begin in October with completion scheduled for March 2009.
Club secretary Wilma Erskine commented: "We selected MJ Abbott because of its wealth of expertise in the field of irrigation. We're very pleased to be working with them."
