A Rugby club which has been running for almost 90 years has warned it could go out of business if council chiefs do not solve the drainage problem at its pitches.
The Edinburgh Northern Rugby Football Club says it has had to cancel nine weeks' worth of games already this season due to the ground at Inverleith Park either flooding or freezing.
It says that with weeks of cancelled games, it has been unable to take any revenue from the bar - which it relies upon to pay rent for the clubhouse and other expenses - and has had to eat into its cash reserves.
The club's president, Mike Sanders, warned that if games continue to be cancelled, the club will run into great financial difficulty.
Mr Sanders said: "We have now eaten deep into our cash reserves and if the season continues in the same fashion as it has up until now, there is every chance that the club will not exist next season."
Mr Sanders has written to the council's head of parks, David Jamieson, accusing the authority of "neglecting" its own sports facilities.
