Sales of LPG golf cars Accelerate in The North of England

Sales of the E-Z-GO LPG-powered TXT golf car have taken off in the North of England following a determined sales drive by Rickerby Ltd, Ransomes Jacobsen's dealer group for the region.
The Parklands Golf Complex, owned by the Northern Racing Group and situated adjacent to Newcastle Racecourse features an 18-hole golf course, a 9-hole pitch and putt course and a 45-bay floodlit driving range. Brian Rumney, general manager at the complex, has recently taken delivery of four LPG golf buggies and is delighted with their performance.
"We are one of the most popular venues in the area and this is our first venture into golf cars," said Brian. "They have been really good for us, their utilisation has been good and they are much less expensive to run than their petrol equivalents. One significant benefit is that they have encouraged older members to continue to play, which is excellent."
The 850-member Bedlingtonshire Golf Club in Northumberland is another club that has opted for LPG golf cars. Club Secretary Frank Hanson says,
"We took delivery of four cars on 1st April and they have been booked out regularly all season. We took the decision to purchase them outright, which suited our requirements and we are happy with the return on our investment. The cost of fuel is far superior to that of petrol and although we looked at electric buggies, the cost of installing charging areas put us off."
"From an environmental standpoint the LPG buggies are far superior to the petrol versions, he says, "with less harmful emissions and, of course, the cost of fuel is significantly cheaper. They have proved very popular and have plenty of power for the undulating nature of the course."
Completing the success story of the LPG golf car north of the Watford Gap, is Phil Hancock, owner of The Bridlington Links, who has recently purchased a fleet of eco-friendly golf cars for his par 72, 6,719 yard course situated on the cliff top overlooking Bridlington Bay on the East Yorkshire coast.
"We went down the LPG route because we don't have mains gas and the entire complex is powered by Calor LPG. We have also chosen a contract hire agreement including routine servicing and maintenance with our local dealer Leeds Golf Car, because we then have a known and fixed monthly operating cost for the buggies. The complete package made sound commercial sense."
