SCOTTS RE-ACT TO WEED CONTROL NEEDS

A product launched at BTME this month is set to enhance both sports and amenity turf quality and turf manager's budgets. Scotts Re-Act is new selective turf herbicide combining a powerful triple active ingredient formulation with high concentration, which means a pack of Re-Act covers a very large area.

Applied via standard spray equipment or pedestrian controlled sprayers, Scotts Re-Act is a non-ester formulation, so it will not vaporize in hot conditions. The active ingredients of MCPA, mecoprop-P and dicamba also ensure a wide spectrum of annual and perennial broad-leaved weed control.

Application is best started in the spring and repeat treatments can be made after 4-6 weeks, which may be necessary where difficult weeds are present. Re-Act complements the demands of intensively managed turf, as only 24 hours freedom from mowing is required either side of application.

Scotts Re-Act is available in 5 and 10 litre packs, with 5 litres covering 9,090-14,285 sq m depending on the severity of the weed populations present. Empty containers can be collected and disposed of free of charge from the UK mainland by using the Scotts UK Professional Container Collection Scheme (Tel: 0845 7125398).

Iron hard treatmentS

Two useful new options have been added to the Scotts UK Professional armoury of turf treatments, both addressing the demand from Turf Managers for iron-only products. Greenmaster Pro-Iron contains 5.5% Fe plus seaweed extract and is an ideal choice for 'hardening' the sward and achieving a quick green up without encouraging excessive grass growth.

Greenmaster Pro-Iron is formulated with the new Pro-Lite granule technology, which offers the benefits of enhanced longevity - some 4 to 6 weeks - accurate, reliable and predictable release plus easy spreadability. In addition, the new product contains seaweed extracts to encourage beneficial soil microflora, which can help improve nutrient cycling and general grass plant health.

Where liquid applications are preferred, Scotts new Sierrasol Iron is a fast dissolving, flexible option giving a rapid dark green turf colour response and toughening the sward against disease and wear. Sierrasol Iron contains no nitrogen and potash and can therefore be applied throughout the year without encouraging lush growth.
