Attention to driver comfort is paying dividends for New Holland as the company completes a successful nationwide groundcare demonstration tour.

In partnership with Ransomes Jacobsen, New Holland toured many local councils across the UK with a T5050 tractor and Ransomes Mk4 5/7 mower, spread over several months.

New Holland T5000 series product specialist, Alan Hawes says the company has received a lot of positive feedback from the tour, which has resulted in firm orders with more in the pipeline.

"The T5000 series tractor is a firm favourite with many local authorities owing to the breadth of the range, which offers a choice of five models ranging from the 76 hp T5030 to the new 113hp T5070, giving the best in class power to weight ratio. Its versatility is also attractive to authorities which are increasingly looking to undertake multiple tasks with the same unit."

And with drivers spending up to 8-10 hours a day inside the cab, a highly influential factor is comfort, Hawes adds.

"In many situations it comes down to being able to impress the drivers - by ensuring the unit is comfortable and delivers top performance."

In the case of the T5050 Deluxe, that comfort comes in the form of an ergonomically designed interior including standard air suspension swivel seat with adjustability in the lumbar and arm supports. Thermostat controlled air conditioning is also standard and with 5.3m2 of glazing inside the cab, there is excellent all round visibility.

Sound levels are also reduced thanks to vibration and noise being engineered out of the driveline and engine, and mounting the cab on purpose-developed isolation mounts.

The tour involved the T5050 and mower - on this occasion prepared and fitted by Ernest Doe & Sons Ltd, Ulting - being loaded onto the Ransomes demo truck that travelled the length and breadth of the UK.

Once on location, the local New Holland / Ransomes dealer, together with the Ransomes area sales manager, visited the local authority and demonstrated the equipment's capabilities.

"Usually the local authority had the unit for a couple of days so they had the opportunity to conduct a hands-on evaluation," Mr Hawes says.

The T5000 series' 4.5 litre engine is both powerful and economical with an industry leading 600 hr service interval and is 100 per cent bio-diesel approved.

The deluxe model offers drivers the best of comfort with air conditioned spacious cab, air suspension seat, 24x24 Power shift /power shuttle/ power clutch, 40 kph transmission and 3 speed hydraulic PTO system for multi tasks.

The Ransomes Hydraulic 5/7

The Hydraulic 5/7 has been a stalwart for many years, and when coupled with a New Holland T5050 tractor makes a formidable wide area mower, ideal for large parks and playing fields.

The seven cutting units, two situated underneath the tractor between the front and rear wheels with a further five trailed behind on a hydraulically operated frame, provide a maximum working width of 4.65m, which reduces to 2.5m for moving between sites.

Available with Magna 4 or 6 knife fixed head cutting units or Sportcutter 8 knife floating head units, the Hydraulic 5/7 features individual control over the four outer units enabling variations in working width to be achieved.

The tried and tested design makes it easy to fit to a wide range of tractors and horsepower levels. Due to the success of the tour, New Holland and Ransomes have jointly planned another UK tour throughout 2010 with another new T5050 unit. Any councils wishing to be included in this tour should contact Matt Gough, Demonstration Manager, on 01473 276346.
