10H BST ParksThe APSE Annual Seminar and Service Awards took place in Bristol on 7-8 September 2011. Once again, SGM Contracts LLP sponsored the award for 'Best service team: Parks, Grounds & Horticultural'.

This year the award went to City of Edinburgh Council, which was also a finalist in the Overall Council of the Year category. The council's Parks team received the accolade for transforming the service by building up an extensive database on the greenspace estate, using comprehensive and frequent customer feedback and strong partnership arrangements. All of this has led to significant improvements for the city's natural heritage, communities and public who use them.

SGM's Executive Chairman, David McInroy, who presented the award to City of Edinburgh Council at the annual dinner, says. "In today's climate it is important for us to recognise excellence in service and share that best practice with all. We are delighted to continue our support for this award and congratulate City of Edinburgh Council on their hard work."
