Spider Laptime challenge proves a real hit at Saltex

The Spider Laptime Challenge on Ransomes Jacobsen's demonstration plot at SALTEX attracted hundreds of entrants during the three days of the exhibition at Windsor racecourse recently.
With the aim of demonstrating just how easy the Spider is to operate, visitors were able to put the remotely controlled machine through it's paces on a specially designed track featuring a cross-over bridge, sunken pit and tight turns. A bottle of champagne was awarded to the contestant who recorded the quickest lap on each of the three days.
The three winners were Cain Farrell, a Landscape Supervisor with the London Borough of Islington; Mark Eckton, an instructor at Myerscough College and John Patterson, an engineer from Saintfield in Northern Ireland.
Commenting at the Show, Ian Mitchell, Spider Sales Manager said, "The Laptime Challenge was a bit of fun, but with a serious side affording potential users the opportunity to operate the Spider and see for themselves how quickly and easily they could get to grips with the controls. The winners on all three days produced times very close to that of our most experienced demonstrator, which was really impressive! "
