SPORTS FACILITIES AT CHIGWELL SCHOOL ENHANCED WITH NEW TURF MAINTENANCE EQUIPMENT

Supplied by local dealer Ernest Doe and Sons, the new equipment comprises of a New Holland compact tractor and a set of Ransomes trailed gang mowers. The tractor will be used for general horticultural and turf maintenance duties, while the trailed gangs will be used exclusively to mow the 70 acres of sports turf within the grounds of the prestigious school.

School Bursar, Robert Seaward commented, "Physical Education forms an integral part of the school's timetable with all pupils required to participate in formal lessons throughout their school career. We provide an abundance of sporting activities with the aim of encouraging the students to work together in teams, develop self-discipline and resourcefulness.

"We have made this significant investment in new equipment to ensure that we maintain and, indeed, enhance our national reputation for sporting achievement, especially in cricket and soccer and to provide the very best sporting facilities for student of all abilities.

Tony Barrett, Head Groundsman added, "The new tractor and gang mower are welcome additions to the portfolio of turf and grounds maintenance equipment that we have at the school. We are very proud of our sporting heritage here at Chigwell and the grounds staff here have a responsibility for producing the best possible pitches, whatever the sport and whatever the weather conditions. This new equipment will definitely help us."
