Three new state-of-the-art FIFA-approved third generation synthetic pitches are now available for the local community at Lynnsport, Kings Lynn following the completion of a £307,000 project by Buckinghamshire based sportsground contractors Agripower Contractors.

To mark the opening of this state-of-the-art facility, Borough Mayor, Councillor Michael Pitcher, stepped up to the penalty spot to take part in a shoot-out against Lynn FC reserve goalkeeper Tommy Rix.

The project, which took just ten weeks to complete, was funded by West Norfolk Council, with additional grant aid money being secured from the Football Foundation and the Waste and Recycling Group Ltd through WREN.

As part of the funding agreement, a new programme will be implemented with a special emphasis on development and training. This programme will include the launch of a new 'FA County 5ives league' aimed at providing structured football for adults, in small teams, at times convenient to their lifestyles.

Simon McKenna, Senior Leisure Manager commented: "This has been a fantastic upgrade to the already excellent facilities at Lynnsport. I'm confident that it will prove a hugely popular surface to play football on."

"This project has gone really smoothly. We are very grateful to Agripower for enabling us to open this facility on time and on budget," says Simon.
