TH White Ltd, Ransomes Jacobsen's local dealer based near Reading in Berkshire, held an aeration seminar and demonstration day at Mill Ride Golf Club to showcase the latest Jacobsen hybrid greens mower and Wiedenmann aeration equipment to greenkeeping professionals from across their territory.
The 35 greenkeeping staff who attended were split into three groups and were able to see the Terra Spike range of aerators together with blowers and brushes from Wiedenmann, the diesel-electric hybrid Eclipse 322 greens mower from Jacobsen, the Turfco WideSpin 1540 EC top dresser, Iseki tractors and other sundry turf maintenance equipment.
The day began with a presentation by turf consultant, Laurence Pithy of Turf Master One Ltd, focussing on aeration techniques relating to fine turf and concluded with the cutting of the putting green by the Jacobsen Eclipse, hollow coring with a GXi aerator, collecting the cores and then top dressing using the WideSpin, before brushing in with a Wiedenmann brush.
Ian Royston, TH White's sales professional who organised the event said,"We were delighted with the attendance and from the feedback I've had, it's obvious that it was an enjoyable and informative day. We were indebted to head greenkeeper Ian Meek for allowing us the use of his facilities and to Laurence Pithy for an excellent presentation and demonstration of the benefits of aeration."
