David Golding, GTC's Education Director says "the GTC has, for some time, been promoting the sustainable golf course programme though workshops and genuinely believes it is through the best possible greenkeeper education that the importance of maintaining healthy sports turf and rootzones will provide better playing surfaces.

It is so important that the work the GTC carries out with the various qualifications in sports turf is enhanced by the Centres, colleges and training providers, all of whom are committed to promote best practices and Symbio, having met the GTC criteria, will certainly promote these through workshops, seminars and training courses.

Martin Ward, Managing Director of Symbio, is fully committed to supporting the GTC to promote education and has a series of presentations all of which are designed to help Course Managers and greenkeepers understand more of what is happening below the surface of their golf course.

Martin adds, "The staff at Symbio, many who have experience as Course Managers, will be available to deliver workshops and seminars at a local level. We are very aware of the importance of working with the Centres and colleges to explain soil and plant health at all levels, from the basic maintenance practices needed for good soil biology to microscope training to determine the content and health of rootzones. We look forward to help provide better playing surfaces by working with the GTC to educate green keepers at all levels in the profession.

A series of workshops are being planned with dates and venues to follow:
