Toro Groundsmaster suits Burghley down to the ground

Burghley Horse Trials has praised its new Toro Groundsmaster 4500-D rotary mower for producing the best-ever looking grass at this year's event.

Clerk of the Lincolnshire course Philip Herbert invested in the new mower after struggling for many years to find a machine versatile enough to cope with the demands of the course. "We have always found mowing the site something of a challenge, and we've tried so many mowers - mainly tractor-pulled - but none could cope completely with the range of conditions we have here," Philip explained.

"With the Toro, we have a self-propelled rotary machine that can cut round fencing posts and mow without scalping, thanks to its five floating cutting decks. And because it's four-wheel drive it can cut on steep slopes. It's such a productive machine and we're delighted we've finally found something that suits our needs down to the ground."

And with the improvement in the quality of cut throughout the site, course designer Captain Mark Phillips was equally pleased!

Back-up and service for the Groundsmaster is provided by Chris Sellars Mobile Services.
