U2 Hampden gig may knock Albion Rovers of top spot

Aug 19 2009 by Colin Paterson, Airdrie & Coatbridge Advertiser

Table Topping Albion Rovers' bid to stay at the summit of the Third Division could be wrecked by rock gods U2.

The Coatbridge part-timers are due to face Queen's Park at Hampden Park this Saturday but fear being left idle if the surface isn't ready in time following last night's concert by Bono & Co.

A pitch inspection has already been scheduled for Friday and doubts over the staging of the game will increase if there is heavy rain in the coming days.
