01 Titans of Cricket (5)Playrite are known throughout the industry for their innovation, commitment to quality and excellent customer service. Continually improving and developing new products as well as updating their manufacturing processes to enhance product quality is one of the reasons Playrite have had a successful twenty years in the industry.

When it comes to cricket this is no different, especially with Woven surfaces. In the last few years, Playrite has made substantial investments into their manufacturing processes to improve the production of their surfaces. Chris Pickles, Playrite's Sales Director, explains how:

Over the last few years we have seen a substantial increase in terms of the demand for our Woven surfaces due to export and the expanding market. We simply couldn't cope with the demand and needed to invest money back into our manufacturing processes to produce the best possible surface. Having our fibre suppliers cut back, internally we saw the need to continue with our first class support for our customers and realised that investment was the only way forward to ensure continuity of our service.

02 Titans of Cricket (6)The £100k investment included adding a further 15ft loom and ensuring that all the machinery required was available in house. Playrite also increased training and labour so that all the steps of making Woven products, from processing the yarn to creating the final surface, is controlled in- house, on-site in West Yorkshire.

Chris Pickles continues, "It is a complete misconception that the manufacturing process for Woven surfaces involves out-of-date machinery. Our investment will ensure we have complete control over the products we make for the long term future, resulting in the best surfaces for our valued customers."

Proof of this came with a recent project that saw Playrite working with Networld to install 1300m² of Practice Play Junior at the Titans of Cricket Arena. For those who don't know, Titans of Cricket will see four teams battle it out in the Titans' Indoor Arena. England, India, Pakistan and Australia will undergo five extreme challenges, providing the ultimate test of cricketing skills. Playrite's Practice Play Junior will be put to the test in this installation - as one of Playrite's longest established product the versatile surface has been adapted and modified over the years to suit a range of different applications and requirements.
