Mick Hunt, the legendary Lord's groundsman, is staring intently at 22 yards of cut grass in front of us. 'The ball is really going through this year,' he said. 'I'll be very disappointed if there's not good carry on this one. Steve Harmison? I'd pick him.'
We are standing on the square at Lord's, the most hallowed turf in cricket, and Hunt, who has been producing pitches here for 40 years, is assessing his work.
