Quick tip against broadleaf weeds

If you have a bowling green or golf green and you dont want to use harmfull chelmicals against broadleaf weeds, cut the top off the weed (just below the surface and apply a little amount of household salt to the exposed root stem, this will kill the weed and will stop it from coming back.

I have found this has worked realy well on all of my greens, both golf and bowling.

Weeds

On the greens at my course we get the odd plantain coming in from the apron, to avoid the rigmaroles of legislation of pesticide spraying I usually remove them with a pair of scissors, work the blade down around the roots and gently pull the whole thing free. No warning signs needed, protectives etc.

BROADLEAF WEEDS

Although not a cultural method of weed removal, try VITAX GREENUP which is a selective weedkiller that comes in aerosol cans. You just shake the can, spray the offending weeds and they start curling up within hours. Ideal if you only have a few odd weeds on your greens or squares, etc. It is very effective.

Weeds

I know the product you're talking about, I do sometimes use it on the fly, strictly speaking you must go through the same motions you would with a chemical applied through knapsack or boom sprayer, restricting access, warning signs etc. thats why I like just picking them out.
