Message Board - Football: Line Marking

happy014.gif 11 Oct 2006 by Al

Hi,

Looking for feedback on products & machinery used to mark out grass football/rugby & what proucts provide the best longevity with regard to whiteness.

Also whether there is still a product available (apart from glyphosate) which leaves a more permanent/semi-permanent line with which to overmark without having to 'string out' too regularly.

Currently use a wheel to wheel transfer marker which is ok for summer. But preferably looking at PJ marker type machines for the heavier/wetter ground conditions.

Thanks in advance of your comments

hi al i use linemark uk premier line on my football pitches, i found they give me the best line, i ve got one of there spray markers there not bad but there not the best either, first time i used i bust the switch off and its been sat in the shed ever since. linemark also make a product to leave a semi permanent line. it grows out after 14 weeks i think.
the fleet kombi is probally the best marker but i can't say what there paints are like for there spray machines,

Thanks for your comments rooster.

Do you have a telephone number or web link for the "linemark" product?

We purchased a topline spray line marker (could not afford the £600+ for the kombi). This machine is very simple to operate and clean and is very cost effective. Whilst the line is not as crisp and well defined as the transfer wheel it is of reasonable quality and travels over muddy ground without acting like a "mini plough"

Have used there preline marker paint with glyphosate added this will last about 12 weeks, but i have found that once pitches start getting cut up and muddy it becomes irrelavent. Beat results obtained at start of season, I work at a grammar school where are pitches are used extensively, I use a wheel to wheel marker most of the time but when conditions need use dry powder on the worst effecteed areas, have got a kombi sprayer but prefer too use powder when needed.
Also use there Premierline paint found it too give good results.
