you lot!

interesting to see that over 4000 members are now on pitchcare, yet only 61 choose to make themselves known in the 'whos who' section-get your details on so we can all help each other out or ask those questions that we may need help with-after all this is what the site is about!

Who's who, site usage and anonimity

When the idea to do Pitchcare was born, it was truly meant to be a simple vehicle for the whole of our Industry to use and get in touch with each other. I worked as a Groundsman and Head Groundsman mostly in isolation, until Dave Winn (IOG education officer) invited me to take part in a 'teach the trainer' course in Birmingham. The course was to teach eight of us the art of communicating our knowledge and experience to others, and three years later I, and the other seven lads have imparted knowledge and advice to thousands of Groundsmen, volunteers and interested parties. The point I'm making, is that initial week in Brum, brought together a group of like minded people and for the first time in fifteen years I felt comfortably at home with my fellow peers. I have enjoyed the lecturing since and like my colleagues, feel honoured and satisfied to have been able to help others. Pitchcare was born from the clear need that there are many who don't know where to turn for good advice and knowledge. Rome unfortunately wasn't built in a day, but as membership increases, so does the collective wealth of knowledge on this site. If you want to put your name to something then that's fine, if you don't then that's fine too. The who's who is there to let people get in touch with each other, but it won't be for everyone. Historically the only time that people meet up is at shows or seminars, but invariably it's the same old faces, because others aren't necessarily lucky enough to have time off or sympathetic employers. That is another great benefit for the internet medium, where people can use it in their own time. I know from the e-mails and phone calls that we receive that there are many who have benefitted from the advice given by so many of you-please keep it going because we will succeed in moving the Industry forward.
All the best, Dave
