Now there's a question.
What sort of surface are you working on ?
Personally I think I'd prefer to vertidrain first. Drawback is that you then loose some of the seed down the vertidrain holes but to my mind that would be preferable to driving over new seed with the tractor pulling the vertidrain.
Assuming it's a football surface, you could vertidrain, apply some sand and work it into the holes, then overseed, then apply some more sand on top.

These are just my thoughts, will be interesting to see what the people in the know think.

Of course there's no bounce, bend your back and put some bloody effort in.

I prefer to verti drain first.
I find it best that once you have seeded you stay off the surface an let it be, unless watering needed!

How do greenkeepers earn a living!!! ;-)

last seasons renovations on my junior/training pitches got a bit muddled I topdressed, vertidrained then overseeded, some of the seed went down the vertidrain holes about 8". Following germination of the surface seed, I began to notice, to my suprise that the seed in the verdrain holes had germinated and that I now had a pattern of deep rooted 'tufts' at about 6" square intervals. The pitches are very much overused in all conditions however the surface has held together much better this season because of the 'tufts' they're like a natural desso.
