Can anyone enlighten me on the cost (ball park figure) of the istallation of a fully automated irrigation system. for a soccer /rugby pitch
also recomend any suitable installers of the systems
cost needed for a feasability survey

Hi I'll !
£22 to £35K dependant on spec, where sprinklers sighted etc. as well as power and water supply issues etc.
Best to get a spec first - speak to colleagues who have had a system installed and find an expert to write spec with your help.
Then go to quote - if you do the spec first then all the quotes are based on the same spec (comparing apples with apples etc). - if you don't you cannot compare and you will not know where you are.
Be pleased to help from a non-sales point of view (as a golf course manager installed 3 systems in my long career with few problems).
As for recommended installers be sure to ask for customer references from whatever company you contact and speak to them - it is all worth the effort - there are a few disasters out there! - it's a lot easier to get it right first time.

Just to add to Duncans reply, it may be worth while considering an independent irrigation architect, who can design a system ( at a cost of course) specifically for you and your site, rather than speak to various companies who may design the system based on there own specifications.

Quite right Neil - remember though even if you go for an independant consultant speak to colleagues about who you use - I have never been let down by colleagues' opinions and advice.
Make sure they are truly independent - you can only find that out by checking them out with colleagues.
Think I've made that point clear now so will shut up and let you get on!

hewitts of leicester have just installed 10 sprinkler heads around the square at porthill park cc in staffordshire, not sure of the cost ring ryan hewitt at hewitts sports turf. they have just layed arsenals & wembleys new pitches
