If true, he deserves to be sacked, regardless of how good a Greenkeeper he may or may not be.
There is absolutley NO reason to behave like that to anyone.
22 Jun 2007 by lizoconnor
I hope for his sake it isnt true
Im back baby!

My bet is that it is an incident that has been blown out of all proportion.
Will be a big set back for the club though. Not matter how experienced the staff and competent the Deputy, there is no way they are ready for the pressure of an open being thrown on them like this!

Interesting point though, what was the apprentice doing smoking in the tractor shed? Scotland has a total smoking ban in enclosed places. Interesting eh?
Chris
P.S I get VERY frightened when Lizzie uses that emoticon!!

Everyone should refrain from passing judgment until the full facts have been established surely. It's obviously a very delicate situation and it must be a distressing time for everyone involved, including the other greenkeeping staff who have a major tournament to prepare for. I wish everyone at Carnoustie all the very best for the tournament.

Apologies for scaring you Chris!

I don't think Chris is after sweet and innocent
When I was in the states the club had a suggestion box in the middle of the lake adjacent to the clubhouse, it was taken in good humour and only got moved when it was a bit old/boring. Who would think it, Americans with a sense of humour.

Steve

Although, Lizzie did look a bit sweet and innocent in the picture she posted................................then again that might have just been a pose! Just wondering if Lizzie had starteds on her 2008 Pitchcare pin up girl calender yet!

23 Jun 2007 by lizoconnor
um, what im suggesting, is a calender of members, and as far as I am aware, although anyone is free to contradict me of course, Paris Hilton is not a member

p.s. I have inserted the missing link/word (lake) to above post. Thats what you get for posting the wrong side of 6 cans of export.

You can see where the money is. Export? I've just started on lowly carlsberg Mr. Hesk, on top of a sleep deprivation buzz. At work till 10 pm last night, in again at 5.00 am...bzzzzzz.
The answer is None more black.

Torch,
just moved onto Warsteiner 500mm bottles, class.
Not working since 3.30pm Friday until Monday 8.00am.
See you tomorrow evening I trust
Best Regards
Steve
p.s. as regard smoking at work, our council has come down pretty hard on the staff. Whilst at work or wearing uniform/ID staff are not allowed to smoke from 1st July. No smoke breaks allowed apart from dinner break, a bit tough as golfers can walk past smoking quite happily while greeenkeepers are not allowed to smoke on the course.

Chris, I know you will think I am 'nit picking' but the newspaper in the link you provided, didn't say the incident occurred inside the tractor shed...larmar

Maybe the apprentice should have taken a leaf out of the hero cabbies' book!!!

He may have embarrassed himself the way he handled a member of staff.
But he and his team certainly did us all proud this week!
Well done Carnoustie!
Hang in there Sergio!
