next year im looking at purchasing a bigger tractor, and would like some feedback on what people think of the ones they use, im looking at 85 to 100 horsepower, ive considered secondhand MF 4345, Valtra A95, JD 5720, or Kubota ME9000...on turfs obviously, they must have 40k trans, and the ability to add front lnkage....what do you think guys...?

I bought a 75hp New Holland approx 5 years ago (TN75D). At the time, this was considered a large tractor for a golf course. I think it was one of the best purchases we made. It could handle trailor work, a 2.1 weidenman and to date has gave no major breakdowns or hassle. Very user friendly. Came factory fitted with 40K box, weights, spools etc and at the time was one of the cheaper alternatives.

2 points to note
1. Some New Holland imports have been brought in, this is a completly different tractor with knobs and levers all over the place.

2. Personally I don't like the super steer option (and didn't buy it). Unnecessary expense and something else to go wrong.

We have just demoed a range of Tractors.

Kioti, Kubota,JD, New Holland, Landini, Tym

Ranging from 60hp to 90hp

Best 2 were the Kubota and JD.

WE are hoping to get the JD 70hp 5 series I Think.

of all the Tractors It was the only one that I felt you sat in it rather than on it!!

All the controls are a natural extension of your hands and legs.

Heres hoping to a Large Green Pressie this Christmas

Ticky, i thought you only had eyes for vicky and JD.

Just taken delivery of a New Holland TN75 on Trelleborg tyres. It is a superb bit of kit. It handles our 2 metre vertidrain with ease. Important bit. The air con and the stereo are of good quality! It is very comfortable and I would recomend one to anybody.

I would concur with Chris and Gordon the Gopher, i have a TN75 that handles our 2.1 m wiedeman perfectly, what it is like for other larger applications i dont know, but it does Tow our + Operate our 9 3m Composter quite easily.

I looked at JD and Kubota, and found the physical size of these tractors off putting, whereas the TN75 is not that much bigger than our other tractors, even though the Hp is much higher.

i have arranged demo,s of Kubota ME9000, JD5720, MF5445 and ive had a look at a New Holland, not a TN but the TLA100, (4pot turbo 100hp) offered me a deal so i get to keep the agric rims an tyres for my winter work...do like the look of it, just waiting for a demo machine to get into our area, mind you, i could always pinch Parkmans TS135A,...here is the TLA100

Certainly would not buy another JD. Bought one 2 years ago, the local dealer's fitter spends more time here fixing it than he does in his own workshop! He was here for 4 hours yesterday trying to sort out yet another fault.

Hi Chris, i remember your dismay at JD in a previous thread back in the summer, but i must defend JD, you got a bad egg, and this happens in all products at some time or another, i could give you a couple of people who would not touch each and any make of tractor with a barge pole for similar reasons, product failure and the big kick in the b***s is lack of dealer support, as i said back in the summer , when i worked for Parkmans family back in the 90s we snapped a NH 8360 in half, but i now find myself looking at NH TL100A models....what kind of things are going wrong with your JD and what model have you....

Used all sorts of tractors, JD seemed to win overall. Don't think I would buy another Kubota. If I was on a tight budget I would look hard at the Kyoti's or McCormicks. A lot depends on the back up from local dealers as Chris points out.

The answer is None more black.

9 Dec 2007 by Gordon the Gopher

On a Budget? I think it's beter to buy a small agri tractor on turf tyres. (75-100hp) Definitely (in my experience) these do not give as much trouble as the Jap tractors. (Careful now my girlfriend is Chinese). I know of a couple of McCormick tractors (100hp) in my area operating on turf tyres. One of the club's complained about grip but after reducing tyre pressure from 80psi to 8psi that was sorted.

Ticky, basicaly it was set up wrongly in the first place. The auto hitch fouled the bodywork. The 4 in 1 bucket had to be operated by the remote spool valve. In other words it was impossible to operate as the spool valve lever is just off the floor. Eventualy got that changed to a somewhat primitive button on the main loader controls. That kept blowing fuses until last week they finaly found out there was a wiring fault! The hydraulic lift crank pins were too short with the auto hitch fitted and a small lynch pin was bodged into the ends. They then decided longer pins were required and welded two together!!! That worked well for about 10 mins until everything came crashing to the ground with a very large bang! The fuel gauge packed up and all the cladding in the cab was taken off to gain access to it. The cladding was put back but fell straight off. I think it has been put back about 4 times so far. Guess where it is now, yup on the floor again. Steering ram oil seals failed. Loader oil seals failed. A picture of one of the afformentioned pins.

Sounds to me chris that JD UK would like to hear - set up and ancilliaries are done at the dealer so probably not a machine fault. John Deere in my books are up there with the very best

2010 0417HALTON0001 10 Dec 2007 by ticky21

Hi Chris, i tend to agree with our Vid here, after market bolt ons, pick up hitch, loader etc badly fitted and set up, but i also had that lift pin snap this summer, but my son was belting across field with harrows on lifted up, (swift thick ear was issued) but Farols got me one over night from Langar, (JD HQ) we had hitches fitted to two 4600,s at Kestrel, and they were fine, (Winchester Garden Machinery) the 4 in 1 should have had a modern joystick fitted with biult in 3rd spool control on two buttons (open and close bucket , grab etc) like all telescopics and larger front loaders have, the cladding in your cab should have been put back with new velcro, mine was when it went into Golf and Turf, you really ought to get intouch with JD HQ and put your plight to them..i think you will be pleasantly surprised at the outcome...

300ci_titel.jpg

just had a PM from "thedinga" and he gave me a suggestion, how bout Fendt, they do a 300Ci two tractors in this range, between 80 and 100 hp but i know these are pricey, to put it in perspective a fendt Vario 936, 355hp 60kph box is around £100,000 but what a machine, the 300Ci comes with optional vario box as well but only 40k top speed, would be interesting to see how much one of these is going for,

Ticky, I did contact JD at Langar. They sent someone down but could not sort the loader configuration as it turned out they had never fitted one before! Compared to the New Holland it is a very noisy tractor..

COG logo a small.jpg 11 Dec 2007 by thedinga

Ticky,

Idea of the Fendt is mainly resale value as well as vaersatility - 40k box on the Vario 300s and Vario box means the exact low speed for drainage or verti-draining, or higher speeds. If you are the main driver I'd say go for it as the Vario will take a while to get used to. If you have a lot of drivers then don't have one!

Try Peter Rose at PHR (Near Braintree, Essex) for info - he's a Fendt specialist dealer - only person to buy a Fendt from.

http://www.phrrayne.co.uk/. He'll likely know what you'll pay for a secondhand 300 machine or a may do a good deal on a new one!

Ticky
I was trying to identify a newish MF 100HP + today as it was fully repainted in local authority colours , I looked for the chasis plate and found three different ones - the cab made in Italy , the front axle made by Dana and the engine one (never did find the tractor one as the cab was locked) which brings me to this question , are John Deere one of the few that actually make the whole thing ?(ancillaries not counted) , most tractors nowadays seem to be the collaboration of several parties and does this account for the problems encountered by some brands ?

Its got to be purrrfect

11 Dec 2007 by Gordon the Gopher

Don't think John Deere make Yanmar engines as fitted to some of thier machines.

2010 0417HALTON0001 11 Dec 2007 by ticky21

engines on some Masseys are Sisu, some of their gearboxes are the vario trans from Fendt.....John deere DO use yanmar engines in smaller tractors, but they are JD Powertech engines in larger machines, just like a lot of telescopic loaders use Powertech engines, some NH machines are Fiat in blue, McCormick are made on the old Case assembly line in Doncaster, as for the fault line being associated with collaborations, im not so sure, Tym have in sown up, as you know Rob, Kubota-Iseki parts together in the same machine, and no problems what so ever, and the Larger Tym have JD engines, just as JCB are running mitsubishi lumps......

What's in the Same Deutz Fahr Agro Plus 60 I run having been sponsored by the RFU . It runs well easy to operate but I know little about it. Appreciate it's not as big as you guys want but they do bigger versions. I'm happy with an Iseki 321 and New Holland 27d for my day to day stuff.
