New Look Pitchcare

We are in the process of revamping the site so, if ever there was a good time to send us your constructive suggestions, it's now. So come on, don't be shy!

Retaining interest

As with all websites, you experienced an initial surge of response from greenkeepers (like me) and groundsman. The novelty factor has obviously worn out for most now and to retain the clientelle you have you need to instigate a few more discussions of your own rather than wait for one of us to come up with an interesting comment. As a for instance, on Greenkeepingworld.com at the moment there is much debate about using Rye grass on greens. Why not post something yourselves equally contravertial on a monthly basis to initiate reaction?

From the Pitchcare office

How about if we publish a couple of the more popular topics on to our home page with a direct link to the message page? We are also thinking about having 'themed' chat room forums at a set time and date each month. I would be interested to know if there would be any interest in this.

yes there would

be more certainly from people such as myself who look to go in the chatroom but find that it is always vacant.
Other than this and the point that robbie made there isn't agreat deal you could do, maybe you could instigate a chatroom for seperate subjects such as the message board has.
Whatever you do good luck because so far i find the site as apealling as ever!

Robie

although i am not a greenkeeper i did bring this question up in a chat forum here, it seemed to provoke minimal response

not

..........have a section at the bottom of each article so that people can comment on the story or ask about the article if they dont understand part of it and only the author can reply to them?
..........have chat forums where a member is the guest every couple of weeks so that people have the chance to ask the ordinary man/woman in the job questions(no disrespect to previous forum guests!!!!!)?

lucky

maybe if we reached far into the future we could have a lucky lottery were three or four members could all be guests on the chat and they could answer questions and queries.........IT COULD BE YOU!

website novelty!

this website has provided me with information on a regular basis and its been great to see how others cope in difficult situations and conditions,i'm one of a number of keen volunteers looking after our local football club and three pitches,we cant afford to pay out much in terms of maintenance but there have been lots of useful inexpensive tips that we've tried to use at the club to improve the pitches. help whether here on the message boards or in the magazine articles has been really useful and i cant see how anyone could describe the site as a novelty, which has worn off. i should also say that our pitches have improved tremendously since, as we've been able to put ideas to the committee and get extra money for seed, sand and a new marker. we've also been able to convince the eight managers about warming up off the pitches, and being more careful with training sessions during the week by showing them info that i've printed off. keep it up, yours very appreciatively J.Clarke

From the Pitchcare office

It looks like the most of you would like to see the site even more interactive - We are taking your ideas on board and will be looking at various ways of making it easier for you all to keep in touch with each other.
