Message Board - Football: pitch protection

10 Sep 2008 by lee horton

Hi,

just wondering if anyone has any contacts with companies who supply the pitch protection for concerts performed at football stadiums.
My problem is that i have a marketing department wanting to put a 15 tonne cherry picker onto my pitch in order to put up a banner on the roof of the main stand. Having already made a lot of mess today, i managed to get the job postponed to a later date.
Does anyone know if this kind of pitch protection could take the weight of the cherry picker without leaving the 3 inch crater where the wheels were all the way down my pitch.

Thanks

Lee

Terraplas is more pedestrian friendly than 15ton friendly.

If you can find some 18mm strong ply then use this . Just double the sheets up and walk the cherry picker out. You would not need many sheets. As the cherry picker moves over the plyboard pull it out from the rear and put it in front of the cherry picker. If you are not comfortable with double sheets then triple it up.

Works in Aust.
