Message Board - Machinery: Ransomes 213D cylinder Mower

10 Feb 2009 by David Wilcox

Having just acquired a field for our cricket ground we are in need of a mower.

We have been invited to put sealed bids in for:

a Ransome T51 Rotary Mower. 15 years old. First registered 1996 and describe as "ineed of some attention"

a Ransome 213d Cylinder mower. First registered 1990 and in good condition.

another Ransome 213d cylinder mower. First registered 1990 but described as for spares or repair.

Does anyone know how much these are worth. sorry no photos.

regards,

Dave

Dave,
First, I would say, have these machines checked over by someone who knows what they're looking at. I take it they will be 'sold as seen' so no come backs? What is the condition of the cylinders & bedknife on the 'good condition' 213? I sold one of a similar age for £1000 3 years ago!
Don't know much about T51 model, except that they are big & cumbersome, I wouldn't put one on a cricket field in April!!
Is the one described as 'spares or repair' a runner, If not, how much will it cost to get it opperable, is it only worth scrap value?

i'll probably get boooed off for this but....ebay....213's tend to go for between 2 and 5K on there, but there are better bargains to be had on there, lots of 5 gangs too

hi dave never ever use a rotary mower on a cricket ground it will show up every undulation and leave areas with long grass and areas with scalped areas

have a look at the hour meter reading to work out how much
hours the mower has done and divide by age to get an idear of yearly use.
