Message Board - Health & Safety: Public Liability Insurance

8 May 2009 by jontaylor

Having been told for many years that the village hall insurance provided public liability cover for clubs renting the field, I've just been advised by the new clerk to the parish council that it doesn't.

Total usage is one aldult football team, one junior football team and one cricket club fielding two sides (one Sat, one Sun). Ground also used by a second cricket club for one team on Saturdays.

Any suggestions for best value insurance and what traps / small print we should look for?

Not sure about your situation, Mr. Taylor, but, football-wise, it's often the case that you have to use the insurance provided through your County F.A.

Insurance is one big grey area.

Regarding cricket, use the ECB insurance scheme that is tailored towards cricket, i.e it protects players, members and coaches.

ECB public and private liability insurance premium for our club was about £207 for the year
