Message Board - Bowls: Mag Engine

15 May 2009 by Bowlerman1

Hi
I have a Sisis mark 4 AUTO-ROTORAKE fitted with a MAG engine. I want to change this engine. Can anyone please tell me what engine is compatible with the Sisis Mark 4.

You 'want' to, or you 'need' to?

Why?

Anyway, any number of engines around 5-6HP can be adapted to fit the ARR4. You need to be aware that the MAG has the dedicated oil-bath aircleaner fitted which is imperitive if your new engine is to survive for any length of time.

The MAG is a high quality engine imo.

Hi
My engine has developed a very bad knock which could be the big end gone.

... or it might be a loose pulley on the crankshaft?

Why don't you have a look inside first ?

A con-rod is less expensive than a whole engine.

Was the oil level low? Engine regularly serviced, oil changed??

The Oil is changed and engine serviced every year at the start of the bowls season.
Thanks for your help, I will have a look at the pulley

Let us know what you find.

You can take the engine off and remove the side cover without disturbing anything else to inspect the crank journal.

If all is well, some gasket goop will get you back in action easily.

Meetens in Epsom is your best source of parts or a replacement engine.
