Well, there I was "topping" the grass with a little Hayter Harrier enjoying the sunshine in me t shirt and shorts ( a horrible sight!!) when it started going dark. About 3pm this was. Didn't manage to finish the pitch when it started raining. Lightly at first but not for long. By God it put some down!!! And in a relatively shot space of time too.

I think I'm going to have to start carrying a change of clothes around with me at all times!!!!

I apologise for my keyboard. The keys have a tendency to move about. I did, of course, mean a relatively short space of time

You'll never make it as a professional groundsman if you're not waterproof, Aladdin!!!

Seems to be the way it is these days, when it rains, boy does it rain, this is the first week here in South Yorkshire that we havent had a deluge for about a month, infact we had 3 in a week starting Friday the 5th then Weds the 10th and then Friday the 12th, on the Wednesday I had just got the ro ro's on and 10 mins later the entire ground was flooded and I mean flooded and just when i thought it couldn't get any worse it hailed so hard the ground was white over with hail stones, this is the 3rd season running it's just been bloody hard work. As for waterproof, take your shirt off and leave it in the shed or car and just wear your coat you then have a nice dry shirt to put on.

Sebd the Rain my way - our grounds are dry as a bone the grass is a straw colour very depressing.

Im watering goal mouths but with 16footy pitches I am loosing the battle hands down.

On the 1st team pitch I have to water 24/5 - im running out of hose pipe !!!

bring on the rain ( I know thats going to come back to bite me)
