I understand we arent under the same sky but i watched a man cutting a hedge yesterday without a shirt on or sun screen and a hat not only are you risking sun stroke but sun burn and skin cancer.

We had 5mm of rain fall between 0430->0600. Talk about almost perfect timing.
So far this month we've had some 80mm of rain - nice sensible amount - the problem has been that it's all fallen in 4 or 5 days. Seems we either get a down pour or nothing at all.
Of course there's no bounce, bend your back and put some bloody effort in.

It seems to be working out quite nicely (to an extent) in this part of the world. It's been bloody hot today but, as has been the case for the past few days, it starts going rather muggy and stormy in the late afternoon/evening. Then we get a lot of rain all at once, as JL says. I can't really complain.

Cultural centre of the world then. You can have this heat at least it's the last week of term here so a break from cricket until August time to get loads of water on.

Hot here in Morecambe Too.
Had a pint and a half of h2o and 4 mugs of tea in 6 hours and I wear a floppy hat the same as Walter Matthau used to and look a tw....t but don't care.
"Our Peg" mithers me not to get burned but that's only 'cause I am very old!! She didn't mind me sun bathing when I was built like a brick privy but now my body is not mine any more I keep it covered up. But those pesky s**t flies keep getting me!! One on the side of the neck this afternoon!!

The Heat has been unbearable in SW London, grass is browning as we look at it as we just cant physically get enough water on overnight.
In desperate need of rain, though i am glad i dont have to get public transport home, no doubt the tracks will be melting soon!!
29 Jun 2009 by Aladdin
I suppose it's me own fault!! I put the "mockers" on it!!!
Having said it was going muggy and stormy (which it was) it then cleared and brightened up. It's too hot for me!!!

It had better be d4mn hot tomorrow - I've got a tan that needs some serious topping up. I might even put some cream on - if it's warm enough.
Of course there's no bounce, bend your back and put some bloody effort in.

I shouldn't brag about predicting all this when others were moaning about it being too wet for pre-season rolling but.....
Still very localised, though. Twice in the last 4 days soaked at home and no rain at work 15 miles as the crow flies.

30 degrees in Australia would be considered pleasant for us in the summer season. It goes to show the difference in climates.
30 Jun 2009 by wicketdevil
yes its the humidity and the fact we don't have chance to get use to it. Next week could be under 20 degrees

No real rain in several weeks in my part of Lincolnshire. Localised showers have all missed our ground. Hoses on for 3 hours last night (next Saturday's track got 45 mins, no more now before match) and they'll probably be back on tonight and tomorrow.
Outfield still green, but turning very white where the cars drove over it for the village fete on Sunday. Interesting red patch on the U11 track where the parachutist landed with his "smoke" canister.

It's been quite showery here, today. It is, however, still oomid!!
The weather, I have to say, has worked out quite nicely with regard to the pitch.
Well, I didn't have to say it but what the hell?

Rizla (William) - brought back memories of working on the Norfolk coast.
Summer just as you describe - 15c in Caister and 25c halfway along the Acle straight!
Winter - was told by the locals that it never snows in Gt Yarmouth then got the car stuck in a snowdrift on the golf club driveway (was there for 4 days!) - was the only place I've worked where we had to stop staff working on the golf course because it was too cold! (minus 5 with a 40mph wind off the sea) - I can still remember it now and it was way back in the mid to late 1970s.
Where are you specifically Rizla?
Regards, Duncan

My car readout had the temp at 33.5 in Bath town centre today , probably exagerated by the road surface but pretty damn hot nevertheless , glad to get home and jump in the kids pool !
Its got to be purrrfect

i work at Hemsby on a building site on me JCB forks, and all day today no sun!!, it`s been warm but i would be nice to see the yellow thing in the sky
, our cricket pitch is near Nt Walsham and the sun was out when i got nearer to the ground tonight .
i must admit i have given up on pre season rolling because of the cold wind ..frozen stiff !!

Hot here today as well but, as seems to be the norm at the moment, a heavy-ish shower late afternoon.
Who needs irrigation?
I'll probably end up regretting that.
Note the question mark!!!

We had just over half a mm last night - not really enough to be of any use at all. So much for thunderstorms.

Once again it chucked it down at about 4pm after having been pleasant for most of the day. Now (just gone 6pm) you wouldn't think it had ever rained!!!
