Message Board - Cricket: Not sure.

I'm sure that if I were in a position to understand cricket I would enjoy it.

Edgbaston looks great on TV despite the delay. On a groundsman's level spot on.

It's just such a boring sport to watch. Only in my opinion.

It's easy really.
There are two teams. One is in, the other is not in.
The team that is not in goes out (to the field of play).
The team that is in goes in (to the pavilion).
Two players from the team that is in go out. When one of them is out, he/she goes in.
As each player from the team that is in is out, they go in, to be replaced by another player who then goes out until he is out.
When the team that is in is all out, they go out to face the team that is now in.
The teams now reverse roles.
Who ever scores the most runs wins. Unless the second team that were in were not all out. In which case, it is a draw. If it is a draw, it will be a losing draw or a winning draw.
That bit is complicated.
Someone else can explain it.

I forgot to mention this.
You can only bowl a maiden over if no-one scored.
A leg pull is not a joke.
Third man does not necessarily bat at number three.
Silly mid-on is brave. Do not call him silly to his face.
Long leg could be short.

....and a person with two fine legs and a deep gully isn't necessarily to be found on the field of play!

I know no boundaries.

....unless he has a long leg, a short leg and his balls swing both ways!
