Message Board - Natural Turf: Last chance to spray

when would be the last chance to spray the weeds? beginning or end of september? Going to hold out so turf recovers from red thread first

In the past i have sprayed our cricket squares / tennis courts for weeds in our October half term, though it depends greatly on where you are in the uk and ground / weather conditions.

I try to follow the same protocol as Neil outlines above. As we both work in a school environment, it is best practice for us to spray out of term time, when the conditions allow. A twice yearly application of a selective weedkiller in Oct and Easter sees us stay pretty much on top of any weeds.

As red thread merely discolours the grass and not cause it any harm, it does not really come into the equasion regarding weed spraying.
