Presentation is the name of the game.

I've no idea about composting clippings other than the obvious that they usually look after themselves at strategic points around the ground, under the trees etc.
The thing that you need to consider if you are going to use your compost on pitches is that you will have difficulty in working out what, in terms of N P K etc you are actually putting on and that may cause you problems in the future.
I like the idea of almost free fertilizer as well as the environmental aspects of it but that was the answer I had when I suggested it for our cricket square.

No, but I am going to try some out.

I have been putting grass clippings into some big one tonne type bags. This has now gone past the heating stage.... so I will now tip some composting worms. I have some worms already working in trays on horse manure, so I will tip the whole tray full on top of the big bag, then cover with some old carpet and leave well alone for a year I think.

Then we will see what we have, if anything!

The ciderman rolls

Four Oaks- why would you ever want to put grass clipping compost on a cricket square? Such a compost is always going to be very high in organic matter and this is just not what you want. Perhaps use it on the outfield?

Paul, check out some vermicomposting practices. you will need to create a bed for the worms and add some browns like old newspaper or cardboard. The worms might die in the heat of your grass.

What i intend to do is build a trough with some old wood we have at the machine shed. base that out with some sand then a layer of paper/cardboard and ontop put some worm food.

for wormfood all the clippings the guys bring in each day and leaves and branches that fall around the machine shed. i would also like to try something similar around the course where we offload clippings.
