Message Board - Natural Turf: Iron

13 Sep 2009 by juls

I need to replenish my supplies of Iron to treat the perennial problem of moss & harden the turf.
‘Treat the cause not just the symptom’ I hear you say, that is of course true. BUT we still need to treat the moss while we wait for our efforts to rectify the cause to take effect.

My questions are these;
a) Iron in what form has been found to work best?
b) If it is ‘Chelated Iron’ what effect does this have?
c) How much is too much to apply per mtr?
d) Is there a way of calculating the effect on the soil ph?
e) While the ph in upper levels may return to normal, how long might this take, but are we storing up problems deeper down?

Hi juls, it appears help is not forthcoming? The Iron age is now over and if you drop me a PRIVATE I will steer you through my hypotheses which are based on years of trial. Ian Mac.
