Does anyone know if diesel fuel deteriorates through keeping at the same rate as petrol does?

Hi Donald,
Yes, Diesel does deteriorate over time but not as fast as Petrol (which can go 'off' quite rapidly).

Various companies market Diesel Fuel Conditioner products as additives to prolong the shelf life of diesel and protect against gelling, icing and to assist lubricity in the modern low-sulfur fuels. Some also act as a biocide and help protect agains the growth of diesel 'bug' algaes.

You may know that oil companies alter the formulation of fuels (Petrol & Diesel) for summer and winter use and so accordingly there are fuel conditioners for both seasons (eg. John Deere part no. TY16230 (Summer) and TY26491 (Winter)) .

We're suffering with the economic recession as much as anybody Don.

Happily we are supposed to be heading toward summer but some unseasonal snow has chilled things off a bit.

Hope all well with you and yours.
