Much of what you will do will be dependent on the severity of the dip, why the dip has happened in the first place, the localized topography, and when you want this dip to be rectified, although as we are now into the football season, any remedial action will be difficult.

Has the dip gotten worse despite top dressing or have people been expecting the dip to magically disappear on it's own ?
I have some considerable dips in my outfield and it appears to me that the powers that be either just don't care or think because they just appeared (over years) they'll just disappear as well.

Of course there's no bounce, bend your back and put some bloody effort in.

I had several dips on my old football pitch, these were cause by old drainage pipes (clay pipes) collapsing. these drainage chanels were no longer in use as they were totally clogged with roots and silt. we had to do some work when some of them first appeared as it happened after a prelonged period of dry weather (can anyone remember those days) our ground is heavy clay and the pipes gave way under the pressure of the clay shrinking (according to the drainage company who tried to get the camera down the pipes) anyway it was right at the start of the season.

we raised the level quite a bit by heavily solid tinning the area to a depth of 5-6 inches and then working top dressing into the holes then repeating this again in early october.

im now an ex groundsman but hey old habits die hard
