Message Board - Machinery: HONDA GX 390

I have just started to rebuild a Honda gx390 engine which was striped down last year by the local Honda agents. Can some one tell me which way does the oil hole in the conrod go?I have worked out the way the oil thrower part of the conrod goes but there is no marks on the cap and it will fit any way.
Thanks Eddie.

In the forward direction of rotation. The con rod and end cap should have grooves or ribs cast onto it which are alignment marks.

The 'long' side of the big end goes towards the triangle cast into the top of the piston which itself faces the push-rod gallery (down).

Con rod bolts torque at 10 ft.lb (1.4Nm)

So the hole in the rod is towards the oil so as the engine runs it dips or slashes in to the oil.
Thanks Eddie.
