Turned up this morning to find a tree blown down on one boundary edge over our lovely picket fencing. Fortunately, the fencing held good and didnt break. Just back from 6 hours chain sawing, knackered. Got 3/4 days burning it now after Ive managed to drag it all orf to my bonfire sight, if it eveer stops raininng that is!
Trees around a ground do look lovely but they are a pain arent they, what with leaves and this stuff.
Tree looked ok from outside but is half rotten inside, shame its a lime tree, very old. Fell down in 87 but seemed to recover but obviously not enough

Kept me warm Barry all right, cant move now, no further than the wine bottle anyway. Funny how doing this job makes me think I can "reward" myself every evening
Btw, things are in motion re the project, will keep you in touch

No size or mention of species, at the start, so I thought it was a little bit on the large size by the length of time you say it is going to take to burn and the time you have spent already???

At least a funeral is final. Good drink afterwards as well usually.

Looks as though bath knows something that we mere mortals don't!!

A good networking day Aladdin and no pain any more the dead. Call it a celebration of what would now be a past life.

Why not have a cremation at the funeral?
Got plenty of wood for the fire.
Some people are like Slinky's, totally useless but amusing if you push them down the stairs

talking about fires me and a mate of mine had a fire on the out skirts of the cricket field the flames were well high next thing we knew the police and fire engines were there flashing lights the lot every home game after that the guy we think phoned the emergency services had a garden fire and the smoke would billow across the ground smoking the players out after that we waited till bonfire night to burn our rubbish

No law against having a bonfire on your property provided you are not burning restricted materials like plastic etc. and provided you are not causing a problem to highways or neighbours. It is recomended to burn diseased timber to stop the disease spreading. Also very little difference in the amount of CO2 given off by burning as opposed to rotting which is what the woodchip will do.
There is also no restriction on buying and using a chainsaw on your own property, something which i think is absolutely crazy as it must be the most dagerous piece of kit available.
2 years ago i drove past a neighbour who was stood on top of a 5ft high stump in shorts and trainers using the tip of an 18" inch saw trying to cut it up!

As I said, I am 300 yards or so form the nearest property, not too bothered about the CO2 if Im honest anyway, mainly scaremongering by interested parties imo.
Most of the tree that has come down is rotten.
I have stopped anyone else using the chainsaw as I caught a member during a work party halfway up a tree as well, in shorts as well, no protective gear, crazy.
