Hi just to prove that playing on frosty greens really does damage the surface,here is a picture of our putting green where someone has practiced when the green was still frozen!! I guess the rain we have had has made it worse but the footprints came out after 3 days approx.

Now, I'm no expert but:
As a kid we walked on frosted grass and the footprints were both black and foot-shaped. In addition they appeared sooner than 3 days.
I notice there are no marks near the cup on that green when I would expect the errant golfer to have at least retrieved his balls (golf!).
Are you sure this is frost damage from a practising golfer?

Thats because they cant putt and they kept missing the hole! 99% sure frost damage!
