Message Board - Website Feedback: Bath- on reaching a milestone
21 Dec 2009 by Mal
Hey Bath not sure how long the roll over information on the name hyperlinks have been in place but your reaching 2312 messages must surely make you da main man
When you reach 2500 that must be a milestone worth celebrating (perhapes web monkey should work out a way to get your name to blink in bright coloured neon fashioned lights) Well done & keep it up

Quidquid latine dictum sit, altum sonatur.

I have often been accused of talking gibberish cal, but please enlighten me. I struggled with the latin just getting through my plant idents, no chance in conversation.
Mal, how you came across that info i do not know. I never know when to stop talking, so everybody tells me, now it seems i never know when to stop talking. New year looming, new year resolution required. I must shut up and give somebody else a chance.
Happy, quieter new year to you all.

Hi Cal, I suppose everything said in latin is profound just like everything said in french is supposibly romantic and italian is supposibly sexy. My English is none of the above.
Bath, if you leave your mouse pointer over your (or anyone elses) name at the begining of the thread a screen comment pops up.

Even JL has been very quiet of late. You OK JL ?

I'm amazed too, Barry. Quite how you manage to post as often as you do, given the amount of time you spend ROFL is quite remarkable.
Seasons best wishes

yeah I'm fine.
Been a tad busy with a few other things which have taken longer to complete than expected - swmbo's xmas pressie for one which is finally almost finished.
Bath, square's still looking good - or it was assuming no t******r has been walking all over it during this freezing weather.
hmmm, with a bit of work I could hit 3k by the end of the year :)
ADDED:
LMAO, I opened this thread wondering if I'd missed a major birthday for Gordon.
Of course there's no bounce, bend your back and put some bloody effort in.

Hi Lawrence, I hadn't realised that you had nearly reached 3000 when I opened this thread and all in 3 years and 7 months. Perhapes on a points for answer system you would surely be guru designate. But beware, Gordon is snapping at your heels

How one can easily go of thread. I am setting myself up to be shot down here Rob, but i did pay a little attention in woodwork class and i believe jon has made what looks like a wonderful job of making lapp joints. Dovetails are similar but have bevelled joints.
I never forgot the word lapp once i started dancing. Has staid with me for ever.
Happy Christmas.
23 Dec 2009 by jlawrence
I suppose it's a sort of lapp joint. They tend not to be referred to as lapp's when joining two edges - normally just referred to as box or finger joints. Took ages to get the darn things right - would have used dovetails but my skills aren't upto cutting that many accurately.
The whole thing is only 7.5" x 5.5" which makes it a tad more difficult to get it right.
Of course there's no bounce, bend your back and put some bloody effort in.

The bargirl in the dog and ferret has a better chest.
Some people are like Slinky's, totally useless but amusing if you push them down the stairs

LOL - don't know about that I'll see what see looks like when I get to Harrogate :)

I love working in wood myself except for the fact that I only have to touch wood for any legnth of time and it dries my skin out to the extent that it cracks like crazy. Don't think I've managed anything so posh looking as that though Jon. Great to see you resolved to make good old fashioned draw runners and not fit them with plastic or steel draw kits.

Thats a challenge or perhaps I dont even have to try that hard.
(I feel more of a saddo than ever now)
What do I do? I just cut the grass.
24 Dec 2009 by jlawrence
Mal, there are many people who have various differing reactions to different woods. Fortunately the safety gear (masks, gloves etc) have improved a lot over the years and even people who have very serious reactions can still carry on their hobby.
Difficult to use drawer kits on small things. I will use them if the drawer is likely to need to hold heavy things though, but on jewelery boxes etc they just look plain wrong.
Of course there's no bounce, bend your back and put some bloody effort in.
