Message Board - Bowls: Triple mowing

Perry 1 11 Jan 2010 by Steve63

Hi guys,

Have any of you chaps tried cutting a bowling green with a triple greens mower? I understand that not many of you will have the opportunity to do/try this but if anybody has had some experience of this I would appreciate any feedback.
I have my own opinion but I will leave that, for now.

Regards

Steve

hi, did use a toro 3250 for out of season cutting on contract maintenance greens, time and labour savings obviouse, some concerns over entry to greens, damage to banks, machine etc, but main concern is bowlers accepting change to presentation, as always and like golfers, educating and implementing change is the biggest problem area, but as far as playing surface is concerned I think of all the attachments that you could use, and the cultural practices that can be carried out more regular resulting in improved surfaces, still a need to get out the handmower for the edges but, this is well worth trying and implementing even if for only trial cuts, good luck.stuart

Something in a recent IOG publication or pitchcare mag, cannot remember which. I believe it is a contractor in Eastern UK somewhere mows bowling greens with a greens triple.
