We are making our normal cr*p start but who cut the wicket? The work experience lad?
Not that the 2 wickets this far had anything to do with the wicket, one was a great catch and the other was a sh*te shot.

Another cr*p shot. KP is having a mare, looked like getting out every other ball Im afraid

I hope not ive just laid SA at 2s on

Its a normal England fall apart job. We have scrapped better lately but our batting is still fragile and prone to collapse. A long way from a top quality Test side.
Also Onions must wonder what he has done wrong.
Its like deja vu currently with Bell and Collie out there, lets hope lightning can strike twice in the same place.

Av a listen to Boyks on radio, KP is a double agent,Harper worst umpire to wear a coat, Strauss tactically nieve they play 5 seamers we decide to bat on a damp one
14 Jan 2010 by barry glynn
Boycs is a bit like marmite isnt he?
I agree about Harper, he would be a poor umpire in decent club cricket. I just cant see how he is still umpiring at Test level. I dont agree about batting first though. First of all, the track is not doing that much, bit up and down. As someone famous in cricketing circles once said about when you win the toss in a Test "If you win the toss, you should think about it for 2 seconds and then bat, every time".
KP is all over the place and because of the way he bats and gets his runs, he hasnt the conventional techniqque to fall back on. Still has one more inninngs to come good though.
Collie just come out of hutch and hooked a six!

Yeah they said that on Sky. Hilarious.
Must have been the strain of bowling about 100 overs in 2 months.

Collie is looking in great nick, nerves of steel.
That could easily have been 80 for 6/7.

14 Jan 2010 by paul kelsey
Why does the batting order have to be set in stone why cant KP be floating he wouldnt be my choice to send in at 7/2 but would be usefull at 100/3
14 Jan 2010 by Minormorris64
What about at
England 148/8 (41.1 ov)
Must have some good golf lined up for days 4 & 5

Steyn bowled well though but a very poor effort with the bat.
And what is Sidebottom doing with the ball that Onions couldnt?

Did I imagine it or did Steyne bowl straight away after he had been off the field to change his boots? I thought the player had to be back on for the same time that he'd been off.
Presentation is the name of the game.

It was Morkel who went off

If he doesn't have the audio how can he hear it ?
Which he did not have according to Jon Agnew & Vic Marks

Just replayed the Smith catch on the tele, its plain to hear on Sky who are fed the transmission from the host broadcaster. Apparently the host broadcaster ballsed it up. The replay they played back to the umpire didnt have the sound up so the umpire couldnt hear it. Later the host broadcaster played the replay again and the sound was there!! The host sound technician has cocked it up or has a big bet on the saffies!!!!
Why dont the ICC insist that any Test venue has to have the same facilities? The Test match in Australia is currently using hotspot and snicko for referrals, it should be the same everywhere if thhey are going to use it. Hotspot is very useful.

Remember the good old days when the only snickometer required was the batsman's integrity.
Now they use the excuse of so-called 'professionalism.'

Batsmens integrity?
In pro cricket, when did that ever happen?
Never in my opinion. In fact, batsmen used to get away with far more in days of yore. Now, they know if they cheat, they can get found out on reply, esecially if hotspot is in use.
And still some of them will try it on as they always used to, very few used to walk.

Apparently harper did get the sound feed but he had it turned down!, they have a volume knob in the umpires room which he only had set at 4 and he didn't bother turning it up in case there was a faint edge.
15 Jan 2010 by barry glynn
Andy
Where did you hear that from?
If its true, they must finally get rid of the t*at.

It was the official press release from SABC the host broadcaster, which was released on TMS by Jonathan Agnew. I gather they weren't impressed that they were being blamed for the lack of sound.

In that case, he needs sacking. Either he is as thick as a short plank or he didnt wwant to hear a noise to contradict his colleague who had said not out.

Hes done it again! I ve come to the conclusion that Harper is just thick. He reversed an onfield decision of out when there was no strong evidence that the on field umpire was wrong.

More cr*p batting, both Cook and Trott playing back with both feet pointing down the wicket and with their bat in front of their legs.Pathetic.

Prior needs dropping, his keeping is still only mediocre and his shot today, second ball, after being dropped first ball, was inexcusable.
