Hi Martin, and Hi to the Sherwood rangers too. I used a L5740 for seven years working as a groundsman for my local council.
The only time i ever had a problem was when i tried to fit a Lewis Landlord back-actor on it for some ditching work and i broke the chassis!!! (Which was fixed with after i'd finished the job, and then driven it 4 miles back to the depot!)
It is an all-round excellent machine, and will run all day without any problems. There are few better machines available in my opinion, and the bad points are miniscule problems, such as door catches and window clips on the cab (if fitted) sticking or snapping.
Hope this helps. Ian

Have now bought the L5740 with loader.
Finding it a very good tractor to operate. The auto throttle advance is a great feature synchronising tractor speed and engine revoluction, ie the harder you push the hydro pedal revs increase to cope, saves adjusting hand throttle to match demand. Still early days but the tractor is performing well.

Kevin, please help me decide between the L3200 & the B2230 which I am speaking to Brown's about.
Similar prices, light work on flat ground only, pulling a trailer, chain harrows, 1m flail.
Will miss the cab though as don't know how to reach the top of our hedges now.

Re:- tractors, ask Peter Hopkinson for a demo of both, they are equally good tractors so i reckon it will down to what suits you..

Cheers ticky, will keep that on file. Dealing with Jon here but once finance is agreed, a demo will be the next move.

Back in my very early years we used to strap down a scaffold tower to the inside of our trailer. But did consider it not the best of practices later on from a H&S point of view, being not purpose for the job and all that. I am suprised that no one has come up with a purpose built one. There is one company that make a monouverable one with a hitch(but can't remember their name) but all the same, I thought it a little flimsy for professional use .

Geography is everywhere

LOL @ Mal....youre not wrong there chap....we used the "tower in trailer" method til not so long ago...lol...but now am lucky enough to have my mate on here Parkman with his JCB Loadall 530 with a proper safety cage on it.....much much safer and quicker...
Vic...we could bring the JCB up to help out...keep in touch....

ticky, have a word with Jim at RTM about our bowls day, would be good to meet up and bring Parkman if your not too busy. Free lunch is always attractive.
