Message Board - Natural Turf: Fertiliser 20:10:10

is 20.10.10 conventional too powerful to apply to a football pitch in march to help recovery from winter? The reason i ask is i have ten spare bags that i need to use up for something.

if it causes more problems than good then i will have to buy a more appropraite ratio.

In my experience, 20.10.10 is a grass factory in a bag! You could always reduce the rate slightly however.

Mark,
It's not the numbers - it's how much in total.
One bag of 20:10:10 is equivalent to two bags of 10:5:5 or four bags of 5:2.5:2.5
The bigger the numbers and the bigger the grains of fert, the more likely you are to get a freckly result, but on a football pitch I doubt that is a real problem.
Apply before rain is forecast and if you can, apply in two doses a few weeks apart.

Depends mostly on what the weather is like in March Mark.
However, it will usually be ok come April. As mentioned above, half rate might suit you fine and as also mentioned, it could create a brilliant grass factory. Hope the mower is tip top.
Are Truro City definately ground sharing next season ?
