If our club wanted a brand new outfield laid what sort of figure would it cost us for someone to do it? Any idea?

Now there's a million dollar question.
The answer would be completely dependent on the specification of said outfield.
For anyone to even give you a rough idea I think you'll need to give out a bit more information.
Of course there's no bounce, bend your back and put some bloody effort in.

We have a largeish cricket outfield which is in average condition.
It's never been treated over the years, mainly cut by the council once a week (until last year when we bought out own outfield mower).
We just want to get it to a better standard and to do that we'd have to get some sort of professional work done. Just really wondering if this will cost thousands or tens of thousands before we start?

Marc,
It is so difficult to price a job like this without a full spec, you need to get advice from your county board. I am a contractor and to be honest you would be looking at the tens of thousands figure for a complete new outfield.
Cheers

To replace the whole outfield is really only possible for places like lords. Also most problems can be solved without removing and replacing the whole of the outfield. Can you tell us more about the problems on the outfield and we will try to advise you the best course of action. Ian
Can you just is the longest sentence in the world !!!!!!!

tens of thousands through to many hundreds of thousands depending on what the spec is.
When you say to a 'better' standard. What's actually wrong with it now - ie grass coverage, compaction levels, drainage (or not as the case may be), levels ????
Give us a clue as to where you're coming from and where you're wanting to get to and we can offer some advice.
Of course there's no bounce, bend your back and put some bloody effort in.

Chertsey CC re-surfaced their outfield a few years ago, I think they paid for it from the rent for having a phone mast in the corner of the ground. A figure of £10k in mind, but can't really remember the detail. If you look them up it might be worth your while talking to them about it - they too had a large but poorly maintained field, which became flat and well - grassed from one season to the next, and remains so.

We had our outfield dug up and levelled 3 years ago, as being on London clay we had a very undulating surface.
Ploughed, Graded, Tilthed and Seeded it was about 18k I seem to remember.

Would estimate around the £18-30K mark, depending on size, location, Spec required, levels, Soil type/stone content.
Plastic.... it's The End I tell you... THE END!!!!
