Message Board - Not Turf Related: Staying in or near Windsor

wasties.bmp 21 Feb 2010 by Four Oaks

I am organising a weekend away for about 20 couples for the end of October and I am looking for somewhere a bit different from the usual seaside places, Torquay, Llandudno, Yarmouth, Scarboro, et cetra. Windsor sprung to mind and I wondered if any of you had any first hand recomendations for accomodation from your visits to Saltex perhaps? Budget is around £120 a head.

Had a mate who went on one of those, dunno what happened to his Mrs but he drive around in a decent Audi for years and I never saw him on his scooter again.

Some people are like Slinky's, totally useless but amusing if you push them down the stairs

Hi Four Oaks,

Try the Copthorne - postal address is Slough but it's midway between Slough and Windsor.

Windsor Town centre VERY expensive!

We stay at the Upton Park in Slough. It's run by Seikhs and the Indian restaurant is excellent. It might be a bit small for your party, but worth a try.

You definitely need a sat nav to find it!

Windsor is hugely expensive as Peter says, if you are looking at this part of the country then look at Richmond.

The petersham hotel, richmond hill hotel and bingham hotel are all very nice, and on laterooms.com so you may find a bargain. if not there are lots of other hotels locally,

Richmond is only 25 mins from Windsor , 15 mins from Waterloo, has a district line tube in london, and one of the best views in the SE from the Robuck pub on Richmond Hill.

There's quite a big place on the hill in Windsor with plenty of spare rooms, quite old but they keep the place tidy, not very fire proof though.

Hmmm Oakley Court , very nice and you can catch the river ferry to the town centre I believe , there's always the Holiday Inn on the M4 junction not a brilliant outlook but the facilities are pretty good inside , another option is the Macdonald hotel up near Elton Johns pad - Savill Court http://www.macdonaldhotels.co.uk/savillcourt/index.htm
worth seeing if you can get a group discount maybe ? There are of course the Prem travel inns if you like purple decor..

Its got to be purrrfect
