hi can anyone recommend where to buy a soil core sampling tool which is suitable for taking core out of cricket square at a very reasonable price I know they can be expensive i dont have a big budget . PS to look at root depth

Soil sampling tools are listed in the Pitchcare shop under the heading Tools & Equipment.
See if they are what you're after.

You're after either the 2" sampler as in the pitchcare shop or the cricket pitch sampler as sold by nzsti - I think the cricket sampler is the small one anyway.
I wish someone in the UK sold those small samplers as they're very handy.
Of course there's no bounce, bend your back and put some bloody effort in.

hi thanks for the info. the one on pitchcare looks good but way out of budget .is there anybody out there who is getting rid of an old one, little cheeky on my side but willing to buy if I can afford it thanks anyhow tried logging on[ nzsti] couldn't see one. probably looking on wrong info

4 inch depth. You can use it every week to check compaction & moisture levels in your block and match pitch.
This isn't done enough in the UK. Remove the guess work...

I use mine at least 2 to 3 times a week once I start PSR and all the way through the season, wouldn't be without it.
