Message Board - Football: Looking after football pitch

26 Feb 2010 by Rob 76

Hi all,

I need help and advice on looking after our pitch, i manage a kids team on a private pitch and we are left to sort the pitch out ourselves.

The problem is knowledge is non existant and funds are very limited. I really need basic advice on what i can do to improve the pitch rather than me doing something that will ruin it or make any problems worse.

Cricket is played from May and half our pitch is the outfield but whole area is rolled and cut regulary during cricket season but after cricket is finished no work is done at all.

Thanks Rob.

Hi,
We are on the derby, notts border and have no kit at all apart from the very basic. spades, forks, small hand roller and parents that will do as much as they can.

I know we have practically nothing to work with but we all want the pitch to be as good as possible for the kids
